LiveWest – Week 2 Perspective

As we head into the second week of the LiveWest challenge, a few thoughts came to mind:

  • Discovery - For me, the first week of the challenge seemed to be highlighted by a number of visits to relatively comfortable places that I have been before. I hope to find some exciting new places to share this week – if you have recommendations, please share!
  • New Perspectives - As a movement, we look forward to having some guest bloggers share their experiences related to the Westside. Some of these folks will be people with long & deep ties to the Westside, others may be from across the river. If you’d like to share something, please post on the Facebook page or email info@welcomewest.org. It’s about us all promoting our community’s assets.
  • Grassroots Events – This Thursday, May 12th at 7p, we invite you to join us in celebrating one of our most enjoyable summer assets – Dairy Queen. We’ll enjoying the nice weather with a Walk/Bike to Dairy Queen Night – a few WelcomeWest organizers will be at each location (Fulton St. & Walker Ave.). It’s a great excuse to get out of the house and share some ice cream or a Blizzard with new friends!
  • Observations – As LiveWest hits its stride, hopefully we’ll collectively be able to offer some ideas for how we can see our assets in new ways. A quick example of utilizing a positive outlook is seeing “Sold” signs in yards as opportunities to welcome new neighbors! What other everyday things could be seen in a new light?

Hope to see you Thursday!
